Woman lodges report after being slapped by husband

SIBU: A female school teacher lodged a police report after she was slapped by her husband last Saturday night.

Sibu District Police chief, ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah said the incident occurred around 11.30pm at a house at Jalan Bruang here when the victim’s husband confronted her over the way she served food to their children.

“This led to an argument between the two in which the suspect tried to strangle the victim before slapping her on her left cheek three times,” he said.

He added that the 35-year-old sustained bruises on her left cheek and scratches on her neck in the incident.

Saiful Bahri said the suspect, an unemployed and believed to a drug addict, had absconded following the incident and police were tracking him down.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act, he added.
