Woman loses handbag to snatch thief

KUCHING: A female staff working for a petroleum company had her handbag snatched on Sunday night. The victim revealed that during the incident, she was exiting a supermart in Matang when an unknown man grabbed her handbag.

She suffered light injuries and lost RM800 cash, bank cards and identity card. A police report was later lodged.

In a separate incident, a female cashier suffered injuries to her back, leg and face after being pushed around by a burglar.

The victim and another colleague were manning a convenience store in MJC, Batu Kawa. At about 6.10am, a man wearing a full face helmet entered the store on the pretext of purchasing something.

While the victim was preparing loose change for the suspect, he suddenly grabbed the money in the cash drawer which prompted the cashier to shut the drawer and lock it with the key.

She later brought the key along and fled to the back of the store, screaming for help while her colleague stood and watched in fear.

The suspect followed her and pushed her against a cigarette display counter in the hope of taking the keys but she refused to give up. The colleague then shouted for help.

Upon seeing the victim’s reaction, the suspect then fled on a motorcycle. A police report has been lodged.
