MUKAH: The wooden plank bridge at Sungai Ubong, Kampung Tradisi Tellian here will be upgraded to concrete soon.
Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said the contract period for the project is six months from Aug 16, 2021 to Feb 15, 2022.
“A local contractor (Yayawan Permai) is undertaking the project,” he said on Friday (Sept 24), when asked about the buildings materials for the upgrading project by the roadside near a bridge crossing Sungai Ubong.
According to the former Balingian assemblyman, the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) is the technical agency of the project.
He added the project is a rural connecting road (JPD) under the Rural Development Ministry.
The existing wooden plank bridge is dilapidated due to natural causes such as weather, high tide and floods.
Part of it is connected to a small wooden bridge crossing Sungai Tellian, leading to a homestay, Lamin Dana.
