KUCHING: About 200 less fortunate children and senior citizens have received aid in conjunction with Ramadan and the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the contribution is an effort by Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) to ease the burden of the asnaf.

“YKN has carried out many activities and programmes highlighting the welfare, health, and education of the people.

“For the programme today, they not only gave ‘duit raya’ to the less fortunate here but also provided food baskets and Hari Raya outfits for them as well,” she said when officiating the Sinar Kasih Ramadan YKN at Pullman Hotel here Sunday night.

She also thanked YKN’s strategic partners which include government agencies, corporations, non-governmental organisations, and individuals who had collaborated and supported YKN in its the efforts to assist the targeted groups.

“I encourage more corporations, non-governmental organisations, and individuals to support YKN and help those in need.
