Yayasan Sarawak scholarship for three top scorers

LIMBANG: Three top scorer students for Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) 2022 in Limbang here were given the Yayasan Sarawak scholarship.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced the scholarship in conjunction with the celebration of the 51st state-level Teacher’s Day 2022 here.

He said he was made to understand that three students, two from SMK Kubong and one from SMK Merapok, achieved excellent results in their STPM examination.

“I have heard about the state STPM and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) result, and I want to congratulate the teachers as you have produced successful students in both of the examination results.

“I also heard that there were improvements in their results and their parents must be very thankful to the teachers,” he said in his speech during the event on Thursday.

Therefore, Abang Johari said the three students are granted with the scholarships for their success.

Earlier he said educators in Sarawak must carry out their duties with full dedication and integrity regardless of origin, races, religion, ideology and political beliefs.

Education is a pillar of scientific development and culture of knowledge across all cultures and belongs to all parties.

“This matter is important because the harmony and unity of the people of Sarawak, made up of various races, must continue to be preserved.

“With strong unity and harmony, all challenges can be faced together effectively. The Sarawak Development Transformation Policy can also be implemented smoothly and successfully,” he said.

The event also saw the awarding of Tokoh Kepimpinan Negeri Sarawak to Dato Suliaman @ Sulaiman Wak and Tokoh Guru Negeri Sarawak Phang Sin Nan.

Among those present were Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD) Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn and Sarawak Education Director Datuk Dr. Azhar Ahmad.
