1.165 mil approved for 16 RTPs

SARIKEI: A sum of RM1.165 million has been approved to implement 16 Rural Transformation Programme (RTPs) in the Repok constituency.

Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the projects, to be implemented by the Sarikei District Council (MDS), would be carried out in the near future.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei MP, hoped that the contractors would execute their work according to the schedules and work standards set by the implementing agency.

Among the slated projects are the upgrading of kindergarten facilities and the construction of new parking lots at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Su Lee.

Huang said at SJK Su Lok, conventional fences would be replaced with brick walls while a new welcome arch would be built as well. 

“Upgrades to staircases and electrical wiring for fans and lights at Tokong Sing Hing King are also on the agenda. Furthermore, there will be the construction of a new 30-metre gabion wall at Tokong San Nguong Sia and floor plastering at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Paoh,” he said in a statement.

Huang, who also serves as Repok assemblyman, said other endeavours encompassed the upgrading of ceilings and awnings in prayer rooms, floor cement work for three classrooms totalling 480 sq metres at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Paoh and enhancing school facilities at SJK Sing Ming.

 There will be fence upgrades at the rear section of SJK Su Dok and the construction of a ‘ruai'(verandah) at Semanggang longhouse.

“Repainting, classroom, and storeroom repairs at SJK Sze Lu, along with fence upgrades, the construction of new handwashing facilities and window replacements at SJK Su Kwong are also scheduled.

“Moreover, window replacements, handrail installations, new walkways and restroom upgrades at SMK Tinggi Sarikei as well as upgrading of sports courts at SK Sg Petai and roofing installation for open-air halls at Masjid Nur Permai are part of the project.

“Repainting, floor plastering and restroom repairs at Nyelong Basketball Stadium as well as floor painting, roofing, seating, and new storeroom construction at SK St Anne, complete the extensive list of planned improvements,” he said.

Kapitan Ling Dien Yong, who represented Huang, attended the ceremony to witness the handover of the project sites from the MDS officials to the contractors and also conducted  site inspections.

Also present were MDS assistant engineer Joviana Joklin and representatives from the contractors.
