SARATOK: A man died while three others sustained injuries following a two-vehicle crash at Jalan Beladin Sepinang, Kampung Tengah Beladin here, yesterday.
The fatal accident happened around 4.10pm when both vehicles – a Proton Wira and a Perodua Myvi – collided head-on with each other from opposite directions.
After receiving a distress call, firemen from Saratok station were despatched to the scene, which was around 63km away from the station.
The team found that the Wira driver was trapped in his seat and extrication works followed suit using special tool.
However, the 52-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the victim’s 43-year-old wife managed to escape the crash alive by sustaining injuries. She was also taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Another couple aged 53 and 59, in the Myvi, only sustained injuries and were taken to Beladin Health Clinic by members of the public.
