KUCHING: About 1,000 runners are expected to participate in the Batang Sadong Bridge Fun Run 2022 that will be happening on February 26.
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) Dato’ Seri Hajah Nancy Shukri, who will also be participating in the fun run said the event is held in conjunction with the Citrawarna Festival in Sarawak.
Located 63km away from Kuching, the Batang Sadong bridge is the longest river bridge in Malaysia which spans 1.48km long. Tourists have been known to visit Batang Sadong for its infamous crocodile watching along the river.
“It is hoped the event will receive the warm support and participation of the public to join in on this run as I, myself will be part of the batch of runners running across the Batang Sadong bridge,” she said in a statement today.
Along with the run, there will be food and beverage vendors at the event area along with the highlight of the fun run: a lucky draw consisting of an array of attractive prizes waiting to be won by all participants of the Batang Sadong Bridge Fun Run 2022.
Prizes include complimentary air tickets from MasWings from Kuching to Mulu, a 3 days 2 nights complimentary hotel stay at Marriott Mulu Resort & Spa and the grand prize, an SM Sport motorbike from Tay Motors.
On the day of the event, the fun run is expected to kick off with a 10-minute warm up courtesy of the Level Up Fitness team at 7.45am before the flag off at 8am where there will be a staggered flag off in batches due to adhering to strict standard operating procedure (SOPs) as per the requirements of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.
Participants of the run are also highly encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero to liven up the mood of the event as well as be in the running to win the award of Best Dressed Costume where the winner will walk away with a mystery box worth RM2,000.
Participants who have registered for the postponed 10km, 21km and 42km Batang Sadong Bridge Hybrid Marathon category will be given a complimentary slot for the 3km Fun Run – they are able to claim their slots during the race pack collection on the 26th February 2022 between 6:00am – 8am.
