KUCHING: Twenty-five families who were affected by the flash floods have been transferred to a temporary relief centre at Sinar Budi Baru Hall here.
The temporary relief centre (PPS) was opened today at 3 pm to cater to 112 flood victims from 25 families around Kuching.
In a statement issued by the Civil Defence Force (APM), the 112 flood victims consisted of 42 adult men and 43 adult women, three elderly men and four elderly women, seven boys and 13 girls.
Despite the heavy morning downpour, the APM officials had to use boats due to the rising water level that reached up to three feet.
APM also made sure the victims were wearing life jackets for their own safety.
Once the victims were safe and successfully rescued, the APM officials brought them to the temporary relief centre.
