KUCHING: Twelve individuals have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Lundu, about 100km from here.

According to Lundu acting police chief Insp Kumbat Tan, police received a report about a fight at Kampung Perian at about 2am yesterday.

Initial investigation revealed that a man from Kampung Perian had brought out a girl from Kampung Sebandi, and this angered some youths from Kampung Sebandi.

Ten individuals in three cars drove to Kampung Perian to bring back the girl, which led to a fight.

One individual suffered a serious injury to his right arm while another—a 43-year-old man—died at the scene.

The body of the deceased was later brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for post-mortem.

Police then rounded up 12 suspects and they have been remanded for further questioning.

Insp Kumbat said the case had been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
