BAU: Mid-year will bring clean water to 128 homes in the Tasik Biru constituency, thanks to a RM792,000 project approved under the 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the four-kilometre long water pipe will provide clean water to Kampung Serikin, Kampung Serasot 1, Kampung Serasot 2, and Kampung Suba Buan.

“The pipe connection works, including the metre installation, will be carried out by contractors appointed by the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department’s (JBALB) Kuching Division.

“Residents are also reminded to connect the pipes from the metre to their homes themselves, as it is not included in the project cost,” he said  during the ground-breaking ceremony for the implementation of the said project in Kampung Serikin here yesterday (Feb 27).

Henry, who serves as Tasik Biru assemblyman, appealed to the contractors to expedite the project, which commenced on Feb 19, to be completed ahead of the original schedule by Aug 18 this year.

He said the project should be completed earlier, especially in Kampung Serikin, so that its residents can enjoy a clean water supply before the Gawai Dayak celebration.

Also present were JBALB Kuching Division engineer Siet Ung Wu and community and village chiefs (KMKK) from neighbouring areas.
