16 teams vying for inaugural DAP Batu Kitang Rocket Cup

KUCHING: A total of 16 teams are taking part in Batu Kitang Rocket Cup football tournament this time.
The competition is open to all players under Batu Kitang state constituency.  This is the first time ever for DAP Batu Kitang branch to hold such an event.

The General Operation Force Battalion 11 (PGA) and the Penrissen Army Camp 8th Mile also sent their football teams for the tournament this time.

The event started on November 10 and will end on December 2.  All the teams played in the knockout matches from Nov 10 to 11 where eight winning teams will go to the quarter-finals on Nov 18.
The top four teams will enter the semi-finals on Nov 25.  The final will be played on Dec 2.

The winners will bring home a cash prize of RM1,600 with trophies and medals, first runners-up will receive a cash prize of RM1,000 plus trophies and medals, third placing will get a cash prize of RM600 with trophies and medals, while the fourth placing will take home RM200 cash.

Each player will be given a certificate of participation. The opening ceremony was officiated by Abdul Aziz Isa, who is the Special Assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen who is Deputy Minister of

Domestic Trade and Consumerism In his opening speech, Aziz, who is also the DAP Batu Kitang Branch protem chairman and Sarawak DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) publicity secretary, urged all teams to show their sportsmanship and professionalism.  He said the event aims to strengthen the ties between Pakatan Harapan and the youths in Sarawak.
