KUCHING : A total of 163 individuals received state awards and honours from the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in an investitute ceremony at the Astana in Petra Jaya yesterday.
The ceremony commenced with the presentation of Darjah Johan Bintang Sarawak (J.B.S.) to Health director Dr David Sylvester Ling Sheng Tee, 62, who is also an Otorhinolaryngologist (Ear, Nose and Throat specialist) at the Kuching Specialist Hospital (KPJ).
Leading the list of recipients of Darjah Johan Bintang Kenyalang (J.B.K) was Datin Phyllis Empina Tanggai. Also receiving the J.B.K. were Councillor Zainani Salleh, Andrew Bangkam Bejie, Kong Tze Ling and Winston Bale Utot.
The Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (P.P.C) was given to Awang Suhaili @ Suhaidi Ledi, Ganasageran Arumugam and Hamsiah Abdullah Masni.
Darjah Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (P.B.S) was awarded to five recepients while Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K) had six
recipients.
Thirty-one others received Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (P.P.B), 26 received Darjah Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S) and 19 Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K).
Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (P.P.T) was awarded to 33 individuals while Darjah Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S) had 34 recipients.
Also present were the wife of the Head of State Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing and other dignitaries.
