KUCHING: Sarawak police are deploying a total of 1,879 police personnel for field assignments during the upcoming ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour from Sept 7 to 13 in the state.

Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said they will ensure that the tour will run smoothly, in terms of security, VVIP escorts and traffic control.

“A total of 233 senior officers and 1,646 junior officers from the Sarawak Contingent police headquarters (IPK) will be deployed for the upcoming tour in the state.

“The public are advised to always obey traffic rules and cooperate with officers on the ground, especially throughout the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ to ensure the smooth and safe journey of Their Majesties’ entourage,” he told a press conference here today.

He said drone flights are strictly prohibited at every stopover and visit location as well as on the routes for safety reasons, unless they are permitted by the authorities.

Mohd Azman said Istana Negara, Sarawak government or the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) are only allowed to fly their drones once they acquired permits from the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM).
