KUCHING: SD Impex Sdn Bhd is offering a 20 per cent discount for 1,000 users of the newly launched halal food delivery application Halal2Go to be used for the purchase of menu items from Asian Taste and JM Bariani House.

SD Impex Sdn Bhd group chief executive officer Nor Iskandar Naini Hanifah said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a change in the landscape for restaurant businesses whereby all customers and business owners have had to switch to the new norm and social distancing.

“Therefore, the new alternative of delivery of packed food is the latest trend,” he said during the virtual launching ceremony of Halal2Go, which was live-streamed on its Facebook page yesterday.

Meanwhile, Majlis Perundingan Melayu (MPM) secretary-general Prof Datuk Dr Hasan Mad commended Serba Dinamik IT Solutions Sdn Bhd (SDIT), a subsidiary of Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad (SDHB), for their initiative in developing the new business application and being creative in fusing three new economic aspects as one business.

“The first is new merchants, that is, food services and catering. The second is digital economy and the third is delivery services,” he said.

He also said that SDIT’s timing in launching the Halal2Go app was apt in view of the current Covid-19 crisis, adding that this was the best opportunity for the business to test its suitability, viability, and acceptance by the community.

“The current circumstances will be a push factor for Halal2Go to be more quickly accepted by the community. At the moment, consumers cannot move freely, so merchants’ products need to be brought to the users,” he said.

Hasan said that Halal2Go also fulfilled the nation’s aspiration in terms of creating jobs and business opportunities, advancing the halal industry, and exploring a new viable business.

Persatuan Usahawan Wanita Bumiputra Malaysia (Usahanita) president Datuk Faridah A Jabbar said that Halal2Go was a good opportunity for women entrepreneurs to get involved, especially with the new norm.

“With this Halal2Go application, women entrepreneurs can market their products and also start their businesses easily by just registering,” she said.

According to her, they had not only involved Usahanita members but also women entrepreneurs from various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Also present at the virtual launch was SDHB group managing director Datuk Dr Ir Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.
