Police detain the motorcycles

KUCHING : A total of 23 motorcycles were detained and 20 summons have been issued by Marudi police in an operation for various motorcycle offences recently.

Marudi district police chief, DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib in a statement on social media dated April 25 stated that the operation was conducted at Marudi town, Kampung Pemindahan, Marudi Fort area, Marudi Square and Marudi stadium road.

The operation codenamed ‘Op Motosikal’ was conducted on Thursday (Apr 25) at 4pm until 7pm by the Marudi Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division together with the Marudi IPD officers.

“All summons have been issued on the motorcyclists. Throughout this operation, the motorcyclists were given advice for the mistakes they made.

“A total of six summonses were issued for not having a driver’s license, others were for not having side mirrors (3 summonses), no registration plate numbers (2 summonses), modified exhausts (5 summonses), expired vehicle licence (3 summonses) and fancy registration numbers (1 summon),” he clarified.

Mohd Ruslan reminded motorcyclists to abide by the law and not engage in any illegal racing and actions that could endanger themselves and pose peril to other road users.
