33 SOP violation compounds issued statewide

KUCHING: Police have issued 33 compounds to individuals in the state on Monday (Aug 10) for failing to comply with standard operating procedure (SOP) in public places.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement said, the police would continue to enforce the SOP, including the use of face masks and physical distancing in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued, with 17, followed by Kota Samarahan with nine.

“Padawan has five compounds issued, and one compound each was issued to errant individuals in Betong and Sarikei,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, SDMC informed that the police arrested five individuals for not complying with SOP – two Malaysians in Miri who avoided quarantine, two Indonesians in a cafe in Kuching, and an Indonesian in a cafe in Kota Samarahan.

On the inter-zone travel restrictions in Simunjan and Sri Aman, police recorded 1,317 vehicles that had passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 10 to 11.

Of the total, 1,316 of them had obtained travel permission while one vehicle was ordered to turn back due to no permit.

To date, 1,797 premises were monitored throughout the state. They included restaurants (397), supermarkets (181), banks (179), public markets (85), places of worship (77), government offices (62), leisure places (41), hawker stalls (39), construction sites (16), factories (10) and others (710).

The committee also informed that 865 vehicles had been inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts – Lundu (two) and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
