44 Indonesians repatriated from Sarawak after completing sentences

The repatriation programme for 44 Indonesian citizens being held at the Tebedu ICQS entry point.

TEBEDU: A group of 44 Indonesian citizens, previously detained at the Immigration Depot in Semuja, Serian, were repatriated to Indonesia yesterday (Feb 8).

According to the Sarawak Immigration Department, the group, comprising 34 men, nine women, and a child, had completed their detention and sentences.

These individuals were convicted of various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

They returned to their country of origin at the Tebedu ICQS entry point around 10 am through the Repatriation Programme for Indonesian Citizens.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Entikong National Border Crossings Post (PLBN) and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching.

It is part of an ongoing transfer operation initiated by the Sarawak Immigration Department at the start of this year.
