SIBU: A total of 5,459 out of 24,832 job seekers in Sarawak who registered through MyFutureJobs managed to get jobs as of September 2 this year.

According to Sarawak Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) Director Philip Sangkan, 158,910 vacancies from 1,218 employers have been advertised on the MYFutureJobs portal which is open to all job seekers throughout the country.

“In line with SOCSO’s role as a public employment service in this country, SOCSO has developed the MYFutureJobs portal which makes it easier for users, employers or job seekers to identify job matches and required skill requirements or skills required for a position advertised in the portal.

“The increase in job placements as well as other initiatives on restoring the business sector and re-stimulating economic growth will contribute to reducing the country’s unemployment rate,” he said.

Philips said this while delivering a speech at the opening of the Career Carnival and PC Fair at the Sibu Civic Centre here yesterday which was officiated by Bukit Assek assemblyman, Joseph Chieng.

In this regard, he said, the career carnival was held as a continuation of SOCSO’s efforts to help provide job opportunities to its contributors who lost their jobs under the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800) as well as job seekers.

In the meantime, he said, SOCSO through the Employees Insurance System (SIP) not only helped workers who lost their jobs to find new jobs, but also provided income replacement which was very helpful for them to support themselves and their families.

“The Ministry of Human Resources and SOCSO through the SIP branch will always be ready to help and provide the best service and will continue to improve the quality of service in helping job seekers and employers in an effort to stabilise the national labour market and support the recovery of the national economy,” he said.

On the carnival, Philip hoped that it would benefit not only the employers and the job seekers but also support socio-economic stability in Sarawak.
