KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 66 motorcycles participated in the Community Development Department (Kemas)-level Kembara Madani Merdeka programme this year.

Resident of Samarahan Division Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang said the convoy which started from Wisma Federukusan travelled approximately 46 kilometres.

“Activities such as distribution of 100 Jalur Gemilang, recitation of poems, children’s creative costumes, singing of patriotic songs and colouring, which involve the children of the kindergarten (Taska) and Kemas Children’s Guidance Garden (Tabika) are among the ways to instill the spirit of independence from as early as childhood.

“At the same time, we directly appreciate the services of the freedom fighters who worked hard and dedicated themselves in realising the dream of liberating our beloved homeland,”  he said at the closing ceremony of the programme at the grounds of the Darul Rahmah Mosque, Kampung Tambirat here, yesterday.

He said the convoy also gave participants the opportunity to approach the less fortunate.

“The Jelajah Kasih event in Kampung Empila which involved local leaders and the convoy team saw them distributing food baskets to target groups in the surrounding area.

“This clearly shows that the leaders and the community are not separated. No party is left out in the implementation of every plan from the government,” he said.
