8,230 to obtain food aid starting tomorrow

SIBU: A total of 8,230 household heads (KIR) in Nangka constituency will receive the food basket aid from the state government from tomorrow onwards.

Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee who is also the coordinator of Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (JPBB) said, a total of nine distribution centres will be opened to facilitate the food aid distribution to the recipients.

The centres will be open from 8am to 4.30pm to speed up the aid distribution process.

“The distribution centres are at Dewan Lakis, Dewan MMB, Dewan MUC, Masjid Darul Halim in Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku, Dewan Teku (Iban), Dewan Kampung Jeriah, Rumah Asing, Rumah Eddy Jemat and Rumah Maxwell Albert.

“Each centre has will have five vehicles to deliver food supplies to the homes of those who cannot self-collect at the centre,” he said here today.

Dr Annuar who is also the Local Government and Housing assistant minister and Education, Science and Technological Research assistant minister, further said that four longhouses in Nangka constituency have already received the food aid distributed by his party.

He also advised that whoever is collecting the assistance at the cetres, must follow the schedule that has been set to avoid standard operating procedure violation (SOP) during the movement control order (MCO) period.

“For food aid recipients during the first MCO, they can check their names at respective centres nearby as mentioned earlier.

“For example, if you live in Kampung Hilir, you can check your name at the Dewan MBB,” he explained.

He added that the members of the public should also contact the centres to inform them if others need food aid in their area.

Recipients in Nangka constituency whose name were not on the list can contact Nangka Assistance Distribution Centre at 016-9747875 and 016-9747876.
