SIBU: A total of 982 residents at Zone 10 Kampung Datu attended Covid-19 swab tests in Jalan Masjid here as of 1pm today.

The screening was conducted by the Ministry of Health (MoH) through active case detection (ACD) on a large scale following the announcement of the Hilir Cluster by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) recently.

The ACD will be conducted for three days until March 20.

A check by Suara Sarawak today found that response from residents was very encouraging despite the rain throughout the day.

Meanwhile, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee also visited the ACD site to get updates.

He explained that the ACD would be done in three days instead of the usual two-day period to encourage more residents to come forward.

Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister and Nangka assemblyman, reminded residents who have taken the test to stay at home and not go about.

“They must be quarantined until their test results come out whereby the MoH will contact them.

“To residents who have yet to take the test, you still have two days. Please give your cooperation in helping the government to break the chain of Covid-19 infection, especially the Hilir Cluster.”

The ACD will be done from 9am to 12pm on Friday and 9am to 2pm on Saturday.

Zone 10 covers Kampung Hilir, Kampung Datu Lama, Jalan Masjid, Kampung Pa’Dris, Sungai Bakong, Kampung Bharu, Lorong Nanas, Lorong Lang Lane, Lorong Isau and Lorong Bangau.
