KUCHING: Sarawak Community Policing Association (SCPA) held a community policing programme with the police at Gala City Food Court yesterday.

Led by its chairman Datuk Dr John Lau Pang Heng, the association distributed about 1,000 crime prevention leaflets to the public.

“The fear of crime and safety is what makes Malaysians worry the most. Through this programme, we work together with the police to create awareness of crime prevention among the public,” he said.

He said Kuching would be a safer place if every citizen participated in crime prevention to build a safe neighbourhood.

According to Lau, the public’s responses to the community policing programme yesterday were very encouraging.

“The public requested to have more of such programmes and appreciated the efforts by the association and police,” said Lau.
