KUCHING: The year 2020 will be a critical time for Sarawak to grow and most importantly, to get back its rights and autonomy – the aspiration of all Sarawakians.

Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian pointed out that the fight to get back Sarawak’s rights was started by the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem (Tok Nan).

“This journey needs to be continued by fellow Sarawakians.

“It is not going to be easy. But as I have always said, think big, start small and scale-up fast,” he said in his New Year wishes in a video clip yesterday.

He added that the state would continue to fight through the legal process without any shortcuts or rhetorics.

“This year will be an exciting time for Sarawak. It is time for all Sarawakians to do something for Sarawak. If we remain united, we will be successful,” he said.

Dr Sim, who is also the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president, believed that the state would go beyond after the establishment of Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office in Singapore (Statos) and similar offices to be set up in Indonesia and Brunei.

“The state will also have its own security system as well as revenue re-engineering which will double and triple our state’s income for the next few years,” he pointed out.

He stressed that Sarawak’s prosperity would be shared to all Sarawakians regardless of their backgrounds.

“With that, I want to wish every Sarawakian, Happy 2020 and may you have the best of health … Ooohaaa!”
