KUCHING: The whole of Sarawak will turn into green zone if no new Covid-19 case is reported in the next nine days.

This was pointed out by Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian who said the state already had reported no new case for five consecutive days.

“Let’s continue playing your role, do your part and together with Sarawak solidarity, we shall succeed in preventing the second wave of Covid-19,” he said in his Facebook post yesterday.

He added the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) continued to ban the opening of bistros, music cafes, night clubs and entertainment outlets.

“The principle is that any place of public gathering poses greater risk of Covid-19 transmission and may lead to a new cluster,” he said.

A green zone is where the number of new cases is less than 40 in the last 14 days.

To date, Kuching, Samarahan, Tebedu, Lundu, Sibu and Serian remain as yellow zones while 34 areas are categorised as green zones.
