New Connections Toastmasters Club exco members being installed.

KUCHING: Connections Toastmasters Club Kuching held its installation dinner at the Sarawak Club on Friday (Sept 25). It was the first time the members met in person since the beginning of the movement control order (MCO) in March this year.

Area D1 Director Yvonne Ling discharged the outgoing club officers (2019-2020 term) and installed the club officers for the 2020-2021 term.

The new club officers are Rosmawati Priman (president), Chua Soon Ping (vice president education), Ammie Jee (vice president membership), Teo Soo Loon (vice president public relations), Lucy Ho Jia Yiing (secretary), Datuk Seri Charles Voon (treasurer) and Alan Ho (sergeant-at-arms).

In her address, Division D Director, Patricia Renyam Ungun thanked the outgoing club officers and members for helping the club achieve the President’s Distinguished status, the highest accolade for a club, during the last term.

She hoped the new club officers would continue to bring the club to greater heights.

Outgoing club president, David Hii, thanked his exco for supporting him during his term. He pointed out that club had achieved remarkable membership growth.

New president, Rosmawati, International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) chief operating officer, said the club must remain true to its mission of providing a supportive and positive learning experience for members to develop communication and leadership skills for greater self-confidence and personal growth.

One of the highlights of the installation night was a speech by past international president of Toastmasters International, Datuk Dr John Lau in which he shared the establishment of the club on August 24, 2004.

There was also a table topics session where members and guests gave impromptu speeches on questions/topics posed.
