20 individuals slapped with compounds for defying SOPs

KUCHING: Police have issued a total of 20 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Sibu had the most compounds issued with nine, followed by six in Kuching, three in Padawan, and one each in Miri and Simunjan.

Apart from that, the Ministry of Local Government issued 94 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,353 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 285 restaurants, supermarkets (194), banks (120), places of worship (66), public markets (57), government offices (54), leisure places (36), hawker stalls (24), construction sites (21), factories (17), and others (479).

Under Ops Benteng, a total of 1,481 vehicles were inspected through seven roadblocks in six districts – two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
