KUCHING: Securing five international projects with a relative short span of time apart is a major achievement for any business organisation by any measure of accomplishment.

Yet that was the very thing that Sarawak’s own home-grown company Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad did – securing five projects in Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and Republic of Guinea valued at RM465.9 million.

This is not just a normal business achievement, but also a source of pride for Sarawak which is aggressively building its reputation, reach and influence in the international arena.

Its group managing director cum chief executive officer Datuk Dr Ir Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said the milestone marked the capability of Serba Dinamik to move forward despite the slowdown in the global oil and gas economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The projects that we have secured not only strengthens our order book but also allow us to conclude this financial year ending 31 December, 2020 with great news and the certainty that we will maintain our financial performance for the year,” he said in a press release today.

He also said the company was aggressively expanding beyond the oil and gas (O&G) industry, including the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) jobs in non-O&G projects.

“The latest projects awarded also show our ability to source for business beyond the oil and gas (O&G) industry.

“Hence, we are aggressively expanding into EPCC jobs in non-O&G projects,” he said.

Abdul Karim said the focus would include expanding into the ICT projects.

“One of the ICT contracts that we recently secured enables us to set our foothold into Republic of Guinea.

“Aligned with our future plans, we also will be focusing on expanding our ICT projects by utilising the latest cutting edge digital technologies as we see a lot of opportunities in this specific industry,” he said.

The five projects which were secured by its subsidiary company, PT Serba Dinamik Indonesia comprise three in Indonesia, one project in UAE and another in the Republic of Guinea.
