Loss worth RM5k in burglary

KUCHING: A phone shop here in Kota Sentosa, was broken into and several mobile phones were found missing this morning.

Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said the incident happened at 3.20am as the shop’s alarm system alerted the manager through his phone.

The manager immediately rushed to the shop and found that the shop’s back roller shutter was opened and the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera was altered.

“Further checks found that seven mobile phones of various brands were missing with an estimated loss of RM5,000,” he said.

Lim noted that the manager lodged a police report after inspecting what had been taken from the phone shop.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary.
