MIRI: Angry with his mother for refusing to give him some money, a 21-year-old unemployed man set his uncle’s motorcycle on fire on Sunday night (Jan 24) at Kampung Pengkalan Lutong.

The suspect was also said to have had a personal grudge against his uncle.

A police report was lodged by the uncle after he was informed of the incident that occurred around 9.57pm.

The motorcycle was parked outside when the suspect set it on fire after his demands were denied.

The front part of the motorcycle was damaged, with damages estimated at around RM2,000.

Acting on the report lodged, a CID team arrested the suspect at a self-service launderette in Lutong on Monday (Jan 25) at 9am.

The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for arson, which carries a maximum seven years’ imprisonment and fine.
