MIRI: Police arrested two men on Sunday (April 11) for stealing luxury bicycles in the city area.

The suspects, aged 23 and 19 years, were apprehended by Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers at Jalan Pujut Corner around 2.30pm.

During the arrest, police recovered four luxury bicycles worth some RM9,000 believed to be stolen.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari who confirmed the arrest, said the duo were being detained at Miri Central Police station (CPS) for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft, punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years or with fine or both.

The duo being escorted to the CPS for questioning.
