MUKAH: The four year ol d Community Based Rehabilitation Center in Dalat District (PDK Dalat) has been rated as a four-star center, recently.

Disclosing this on Wednesday night (20 December), Minister of Welfare, Community WellBeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, pointed that it was the second center to achieve that status in the state. She pointed out that it was an achievement of sorts and something that Dalat folks should be proud of.

“For that I would like to congratulate the management committee headed by its Chairwoman, Cr Hadiah Bt Jeraie, the supervisors, staff, trainees at the center and also the parents for their patience and commitment to ensure that their children get the best out it.

Of course, not forgetting the Welfare Department, be it at the divisional or district level,’ she said. And she also thanked the generous parties including individuals who sponsored the various activities organised by the center. “This year the center had organised 8 activities and participated in 17 programmes which were organised in Dalat and beyond. It indicates that the center is very active,” she added.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat State Assemblywoman, stated this while speaking at the PDK Dalat Annual Dinner and Christmas Party 2017 held at Kingwood Resort Mukah. At that juncture, she revealed that the tender for the construction of Welfare Complex of Dalat has been issued on 16 December.

“It will close on 10 January next year, and to be followed with the appointment of the contractor and then the award of contract. Of course thereafter is the take off of this much awaited project, not only for those in the fraternity but to the residents of Dalat in general,” she reiterated.

She then added that when completed, the complex would house the Dalat District Welfare Department, Dalat Senior Citizen Activity Center (PAWE Dalat), PDK Dalat, and Children Activity Center in a well-landscaped compound.

“And for the Welfare Department now it is located on the upper floor, so with the completion of Welfare Complex, the department would be located on the ground floor to be more human friendly in a sense that the people do not have to walk up stairs in dealing with the department,” she added.

Fatimah, also did not hide her dream of making the complex as one of its kind with a more conducive and well facilitated one. “Who knows in future, if we have the fund, maybe we have a mini swimming pool there too.

This is just my wild dream. It is so because I learnt that the water therapy is very common for rehabilitation process nowadays especially for the disabled person,” she said. On an unrelated note, she also expressed her concern on the flood that occurs in several areas in the state including Dalat and Mukah.

“For that I want the residents to take extra precautions and be proactive by monitoring the situation closely, and then report it to the authority. The Disaster Committee for Mukah Division is headed by the Resident, and in Dalat, the District Officer. So what is important is to report the situation and abide by the orders from the authority from time to time,” she said.
