KUCHING: The search for Borneo’s best dance group starts at ‘Juh Battle!,’ a competitive dance reality show created and produced by acclaimed Malaysian entertainment icon Tiara Jacquelina, under her company Enfiniti (M) Sdn Bhd.

The show will be hosted by award-winning Sarawakian Hip-Hop artist Deejay Arabyrd and led by a team of mentor-judges who are extraordinary dance icons – multiple award-winner and international performer Suhaili Micheline, Sarawak’s very own international dance sensation Raziman Sarbini, and Malaysian Hip-Hop dance legend and creative director Boojae Fadzil.

Produced by Enfiniti for TVS, ‘Juh Battle!’ gives dancers from all over Borneo a platform to showcase their talents, for the opportunity to win a grand prize of RM30,000 and the title of Borneo’s Best Dance Group.

This high-energy dance competition will see dance groups go head-to-head, through weekly challenges and surprises.

The show will be directed by Irwan Rauf and is scheduled to be aired at the end of 2021 on TVS – channel 122 on Astro, MyFreeview and YouTube.

The competition aims to bring communities together through the power of dance, and as a platform to showcase the best dancers from East Malaysia.

A total of 16 teams will be mentored, coached and judged by a panel of celebrity dance icons, each is a highly respected professional with international dance experience.

‘Juh Battle!’ is created and produced by Tiara, best known for producing and starring in the movie Puteri Gunung Ledang, as well as the highly successful stage musical version.

The Enfiniti team will be introducing a new hybrid format of reality TV filming in the new normal, which will take into consideration interstate travel restrictions, and the latest film industry-standard operating procedures (SOPs), which include a production ‘bubble’ for the entire production team as well as participants.

It said dance groups from all over Sarawak and Sabah will undergo online auditions. The competition process will be filmed at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) auditorium in Kuching.

The mentor judges segments will be filmed at the Enfiniti Black Box Theatre in KL, as well as through an online platform.

“Our goal is to produce a TV show that can reach out to and inspire the people of Borneo through a medium as popular and engaging as dance.

“We hope that young people watching the show will be inspired to adopt and integrate quickly into the new, fast-moving world of digital technology and social media, and be brave enough to compete with the best in the world,” it added

‘Juh Battle!’ will teach people about the importance of having dreams and ambition, working hard, discipline, resourcefulness, integrity and resilience.

To apply for the competition, applicants must have promising dancing abilities and showcase strength in at least one dance style, such as contemporary, ballet, breakdancing etc.

“Dance groups must have at least two members and a maximum of eight members and must be Malaysian citizens, living in Sarawak and Sabah.

“Contestants must be at least 15 years old at the time of the audition submission. Those under 18 years old are required to obtain their parent or guardian’s permission to enter,” it explained.

There is no maximum age limit, however, in each dance group, at least one team member must be aged 18 years old.

In casting video requirements, the dance group must state their names and briefly introduce each member, with name and age. The duration of the video must not be longer than 5 minutes.

“Dance group must wear appropriate and presentable clothing during the video, such as sportswear which is fine, but must wear shoes.

“Shoot your video in a well-lit setting and make sure we can see your performance clearly,” it said.

Video is required to be recorded in landscape mode, with16:9 format or static mode. Contestants need to use a tripod or videographer to shoot, so the video camera stays in one place.

Check your video before submitting it and make sure the audio can be heard clearly and then send your video file in either MP4 or MOV format.

Upload and attach the video file onto the online application form, which can be found on their website (www.enfiniti.com.my) via the ‘Auditions’ tab.

Fill out the application form and make sure the submitted application contains all the correct information or the form will be rejected.

Upload your casting video and team photograph. Complete only one application form per dance group, with each contestant’s information (one application form for one group) and then submit.

The selected dance group will receive a call from the casting team for official confirmation. The deadline to apply is on August 31.
