LAWAS: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan attended the Singgah Sahur programme as well as officiated at the fire safety campaign here.
The campaign’s launch saw the presentation of fire extinguishers to chairman of Persatuan Bomba Sukarela (PBS) Punang and Pukat Jaya, Pemukat PBS, Kuala Lawas and chairman of Bomba Komuniti RKB Banting, Lawas.
Awang Tengah, who is the Bukit Sari assemblyman, disclosed that he would be contributing several fire extinguishers to the villages.
“Previously, we assisted the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in the preparation of fire extinguishers that were distributed to the villages. This is not sufficient and we will contribute more.”
During the ceremony, he also gave a grant of RM10,000 to Lawas Bomba, and RM5,000 to Kumpulan Wanita to carry out their annual activities.
Also present were Awangku Zainal Abidin Dato Pengiran Jawa, a political secretary to the Premier; Lawas District officer Ladin Atok and other officials.
