Much in store for youths in Budget 2023

KUCHING: Youths have much to gain from provisions proposed under the State Budget for next year as it gives them opportunity to highlight their talents.

Sarawak E-Sports Association president Afiq Fadhli pointed out that they will have the chance to gain more exposure and experience which is important to them.

He said youths would be given the facility to apply for funds for the development of creative talent through the Youth Creative Industry Funds worth RM9 million.

“This allows youth to participate in international programmes and to venture into digital creative talent.

“Again, bringing Sarawak talent into the eyes of the world,” he added.

He stated that youths will also be given training and fund assistance under the youth development programme with funds amounting to RM2 million.

In the field of sports, Afiq said that RM47 million that will be provided in 2023 for implementing various sports facilities including upgrading and refurbishing existing sport facilities will open more platforms for local talent to train and develop their talent in various sports fields.

“I see that this budget approach is in line with the vision of Sarawak to become a developed state in 2030 and shows the concern of the government to the youth as a whole.

“Thus I am confident that with the leadership of the Premier, all the people in Sarawak will enjoy many benefits and be able to achieve this vision together,” he added.

In tabling his budget proposals on Monday, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak will set aside a sum of RM6.1 million next year for youth development and mass sport programmes.
