Over 800 arrested in Miri for drug-related offences in 2022

MIRI: Police here arrested 849 people for various drug-related offences last year compared to 563 persons in 2021.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu stressed that the law was serious in preventing and eradicating drug -related activities.

He noted that Miri police had succeeded in reducing the crime rate by 51 per cent last year, with 277 cases recorded, compared to 568 cases the previous year.

ACP Alexson disclosed this during the Miri police’s monthly assembly on today (Jan 18).

A total of 55 police personnel of various ranks also received certificates of appreciation at the event.
