KUCHING: A new telemovie, “Knotted Strands,” will premier on TVS on Feb 5 at 8.30pm.

Produced by Owen Choo and directed by Herbert Ho of Horizn Digital Productions, the telemovie tells about a heart-warming story of family, guilt, and redemption.

The film stars Basil Tiong as Ah Jun, a luxury restaurant chef in Singapore who must return home to take over his late father’s coffee shop in Miri. The film also features an all-star cast, including Bryan Ting as Ah Jun’s brother, Ah Ming, Sim Shu Chin as their mother, Jong Choon Tat as Uncle Soon, Jill Genagan as Kak Jen, and Bong Cheng Tzuu as Tauke.

“Knotted Strands” is a tribute to the city of Miri, and an inspiration for those who have left to find a reason to come back.

In addition, the film follows Ah Jun as he struggles with guilt over his father’s death and tries to make amends with his brother, while reluctantly helping with the family’s coffee shop business.

Their mother wishes for her two sons to come together one day and continue their father’s legacy. The telemovie will be in Mandarin, with English and Bahasa subtitles.

Director Herbert Ho states that the film is the result of almost half a year of hard work and dedication from a talented cast and crew.

He said, despite the challenges of production, the film is a testament to the capabilities of the Miri community and a call to action for talented individuals to come back and make their mark on the city.

“Knotted Strands” will be aired on Feb 5 at 8.30pm at TVS channel 122 on Astro and MYTV.
