Battle of four S’wakians for Chief Minister’s Cup

KUCHING: The Chief Minister’s Cup 2018 Sarawak Muaythai Championship will see four Sarawak athletes competing in the 66 Kg category.

Among them are Morris Hii Zhen Wei from D30 Miri Muaythai Club, Jordan Bokoet Ak Herman (Bau Muaythai Club), Abang Muhammad Uqail Abg Mustapha (Sarawak Warmonger Club) and Roslan Johani (Phoenix Sadong Jaya Samarahan Muaythai Club).

The championship will be held at the Kuching Waterfront, here, from Dec 15 to 16  beginning at 10am.

In addition, during the day Sarawak Amateur Muaythai Championship will be held to discover new talents for Sukma 2020 which will be held in Johor.

Meanwhile, in the evening time, the Chief Minister’s Cup will be held for the pro category to compete for the inaugural trophy.

The matches that are expected to attract the crowd attention include the women’s superfight (57-60kg) between Maurien Hii (D30 Miri Muaythai Club) and Dolphina Walter (SS Fighters), Borneo Invitational Superfight Pro (61 kg) between Aaron Lim (Mayhem Gym Brunei) and Wan Syahmi (Phoenix Meranek, Samarahan) and International Invitational Superfight Pro between Suphan Kaeosisaet (Thailand) and Muhd Ezham Ibrahim (Red Army Kuala Lumpur).

Among the organisers are the Sarawak Muaythai Association, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports of Sarawak, Kuching City North Commission (DBKU), State Sports Council, Saraurusharta Sdn Bhd (SEDC) and related agencies and NGOs.
