Six main events as part of Agong’s installation

KUALA LUMPUR: Six major events have been lined-up in conjunction with the installation ceremony of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, beginning Thursday.

Deputy secretary-general (management) in the Prime Minister’s Department Roziah Abudin said all six events were decided by the Special Committee on the Installation Ceremony chaired by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

Roziah said the event will begin with a yasin recital, a thanksgiving ceremony and a solat hajat (special prayers) on Thursday at the National Mosque, the installation ceremony on July 30
at the Balairung Seri Istana Negara, followed by the Royal Banquet
the next day at the National Palace.

The other three are the visit of the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah to the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (Aug 1), the Raja Kita exhibition at the National Museum, Kuala Lumpur (Aug 5 until Nov 5) as well as a special sermon and Friday prayers at the Putra Mosque, Putrajaya pada Aug 2.

Roziah Abudin was speaking as a special guest on the Prisma slot on Selangor FM yesterday.

Roziah said the public are welcome to participate in the open events such as the yasin recital, special prayers, and special sermon and Friday prayers, as it would give them an opportunity to meet Their Majesties.

She said the installation ceremony which is the main event will be broadcast live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the public could make use of the public holiday that day to view the historic event.

“The institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is a pillar of the country’s sovereignty, and a symbol of unity and stability and the nation’s pride,” she said.

She added that the government encouraged all parties including the ministries, agencies and private organisations to commemorate the event by organising activities which reflect the system of constitutional monarchy and the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. – Bernama
