KUCHING: Datuk Dr Jerip Susil (pic, above) has been retained in a minor state Cabinet reshuffle unveiled yesterday. The Mambong assemblyman still keeps his old portfolio of Transport Assistant Minister placed under the newly-created Ministry of Transport.

Previously, he served under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Transportation headed by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing. Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg announced the new Cabinet line-up at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

Dr Jerip, when contacted, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for allowing him to continue serving in the state Cabinet.

“I would like to thank the Chief Minister for giving me the privilege and honour to continually serve in the same portfolio but in a new ministry,” he said.

Dr Jerip said serving in the previous ministry had given him lots of opportunities and experience under the guidance of Masing. On the minor reshuffle, Dr Jerip said its focus on key areas, which include transportation, agriculture, ports and tourism, would certainly leap frog Sarawak into a new economic era with new impetus for economic growth.
