KOTA SAMARAHAN: Those who have decided to support or join the Federal Village Community Management Council (Majlis Pengurusan Komuniti Kampung Persekutuan ― MPKKP) have been advised not to be socially and politically blind and to repent.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, said the MPKKP was an illegal entity and has not even been approved by the federal Cabinet.

“This is the doing of some Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders who have been given power to divide Sarawakians. They aim to set up the MPKKP before Dec 12 in 5,900 villages and longhouses,” he said during the opening of Surau Darul Ikhlas at Kampung Naie Baru here yesterday.

He pointed out that community leaders were appointed according to procedures set under the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report and Federal Constitution which place the matter under the jurisdiction of the state government.

“They want to use the next state election to take over the Sarawak government. This is the main purpose of the MPKKP no matter what stories they tell you. They want to disunite the people especially those in rural areas,” he said.

So, to those who are willing to take part in the MPKKP plot, he said they must not be blinded by the clever words of the PH leaders who have promised to distribute RM10,000 in grants to each council with the chairman given RM500 a month.

“This is called money politics and corruption. Consider the future of Sarawak and its people,” he said.
