‘A Date with Arts’ showcases digital art in projection mapping display

KUCHING: ‘A Date with Arts’ has mesmerised art enthusiasts with a stunning display of digital artworks, transforming traditional perceptions of art through innovative projection mapping technology.

Part of the FACA Fest 2024, the programme showcases digital art collections, bringing them to life through intricate projection mapping techniques.

“Projection mapping is a revolutionary display technique where art designs are projected onto surfaces,” explained Ling Ke Jia, communication specialist for the programme.

Arts Management programme students from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA), UNIMAS who managed the “A Date with Arts” exhibition at HAUS KCH, Pending.

“This art exhibition offers a unique experience, diverging from traditional canvas displays, which has captivated people and students alike.”

Marking the final edition of FACA Fest, the international event sees ‘A Date with Arts’ collaborating with French artist Lohan Le Galloudec. Other featured artists include Zhonk Vision, Arda Baha, Dhiya Roslan, Nazrin Latipi and Faris Nasir.

The programme ran for 22 days from Jan 6 to 28 at HAUS KCH in Pending.

“The collaboration with HAUS KCH has been fruitful, providing students with hands-on experience in event management and the practical application of theoretical knowledge,” Ling shared during an interview with New Sarawak Tribune on yesterday (Jan 28).

In addition to the main exhibition, students organised side workshops in collaboration with Dirty Art Studio, featuring activities such as the Neon Art Pouring Workshop held every weekend.

Side workshops included Neon Art Pouring Workshop, Textured Arts Workshop, Flower Bouquet Workshop, Batik Paper Art, Resin Workshop, and DIY Bead Bracelet, all held during the launch of the “A Date with Arts” exhibition.

The programme also featured a Pop-Up Market from Jan 27 to 28, boasting more than 20 food and craft vendors.

On the final day, attendees were treated to live acoustic sessions by Sara Music, Zack Harith, Jessie, Haisyah, Vishnu, and a DJ session by Mu’izz Dicky and DJ Rusak.
