KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has made history by receiving the prestigious ‘WITSA Eminent Person Award’.

The award is a significant recognition of Abang Johari’s contributions and innovative vision in the field of technology and green energy.

It was presented by the chairman of the World Innovation and Technology Services Alliance (WITSA), Dr Sean Seah during the 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology | 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (WCIT | IDECS 2023) gala dinner at Pullman Hotel here on Thursday evening (Oct 5).

WITSA is a consortium of over 60 information technology (IT) industry associations from economies around the world. 

Founded in 1978 as the World Computing Services Industry Association, WITSA plays an increasingly active role in public policy related to the creation of a universal information infrastructure.

WITSA is also a global digital ambassador that promotes international collaboration in the digital technology industry.

The event was also attended by Abang Johari’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and WCIT deputy chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
