DALAT: Additional classes will help students, especially those sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, to fare better in their studies.
Women, Early Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said this can be one of the strategic approaches to help them achieve success.
“This is one of the initiatives carried out by the Dalat District Education Office (PPD) in collaboration with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in this area.
“So far, there are five villages that have participated in holding these additional classes, namely JKKK Medong, Sungai Ud, Kekan, Teh Baru and Tanam,” she said.
She said this during the Career and Education Day at the PPD Dalat Level, at the Dalat Welfare Complex, here, today.
Commenting further, she said, based on the report given by PPD Dalat regarding this initiative, it has had a great impact not only in terms of quality but also quantity.
“We are aware of the available technology, most children have their own gadgets such as smart phones and some of them spend more time with gadgets than in improving academic performance.
“However, with this extra class initiative, time management after school hours is more organised and manageable.
“So, I hope that more JKKK will participate in holding these additional classes for the success of our children in this area,” she said.
Fatimah also presented SPM 2022 incentives to 19 students from Miri Science Secondary School, SMK Oya and SMK Dalat.
The Dalat assemblywoman also handed out minor rural project funds amounting to RM252,500 yo 20 recipients.
Also present were Dalat District Education Officer Magdaline Jon and Senior Assistant Director of Yayasan Sarawak (Scholarship Programme and Assistance Division) Zamhari Saidi.
