KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, yesterday visited the “The Monarch” exhibition at Galeri Prima at Balai Berita in Bangsar here.

The Agong, who was accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, arrived at about 11 am.

Their Majesties toured the exhibition and then went on a visit to the Editorial Department of the New Straits Times Press (NSTP).

The exhibition, from Feb 2 to Feb 20, has on view 81 photographs and copies of articles on the monarchy. It also has a special section with exhibits on Sultan Abdullah.

The exhibition was organised in conjunction with the swearing-in of Sultan Abdullah as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31.

During the visit, Their Majesties were accompanied by Media Prima chairman Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad; NSTP chairman Tan Sri Ismail Omar; Media Prima group managing director Datuk Kamal Khalid; NSTP chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid and Media Prima executive director of news and editorial operations Mustapha Kamil Mohd Janor.

Galeri Prima manager Azlin Aziz said the exhibition was also aimed at educating and creating awareness among the people of the significance of the monarchy in the country.

Azlin said the oldest dated photograph at the exhibition was one on the installation of the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the late Tuanku Abdul Rahman Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Muhammad, on Sept 4, 1957. – Bernama
