MUKAH: Dalat and Mukah Districts Council (MDDM) has recently appointed Aini Suhaili as its new Walikota along with 52 councillors for the term 2023-2025.

The ceremony was officiated and witnessed by Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at the new Mukah Administration Building today (April 9).

The new councillors, including 18 new faces, began their tasks on April 1 and will serve until March 31, 2025.

“We are committed to provide more efficient and excellent services to the communities under the MDDM’s jurisdiction.

“I hope that we can work together to better serve Mukah and its people, and create a comfortable, peaceful and safe environment for people to live in and visit,” said Aini in his speech.

Aini, hails from the Oya district, expressed his gratitude to Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, for his appointment as the new Walikota.

He also urged all the councillors to play an important role in helping the state government implement every development agenda successfully while providing positive returns to the people in the Mukah Division.

“We pledge to act as the government’s eyes and ears, and as a bridge between the government and the people. We will ensure that the latest policies of the state government are effectively conveyed to the people,” said Aini.

He further said that he and the councillors will perform their duties with trust, dedication, responsibility, positive thinking, and sensitivity to problems and issues that arise at the grassroots level.

Also present at the ceremony were Mukah Division Resident Kueh Lei Poh, representative of permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, housing and Local Government Selana Sulaiman, acting Mukah District Officer Peleadzman Ahip, representative of Dalat District Officer Mathew Hubert and MDDM Secretary Awang Razak Awang Bini.
