SEPANG: AirAsia X (AAX) celebrated another milestone as the only airline connecting Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an with its inaugural flight, carrying a full 100 per cent passenger load.

On Thursday (Apr 4), guests travelling to Xi’an on flight D7 346 were warmly sent off by AAX Management and Allstars.

The maiden flight departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 7.05 pm on Apr 4 and landed at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport at 12.30 am (local time) today (Apr 5).

Xi’an is AAX’s fifth destination in China follows Beijing (Daxing), Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu (Tianfu) which further reinforces the airline’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Chinese market as the largest foreign low-cost airline carrier in the country.

AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail said the resumption of services to this iconic city in China, makes AAX the sole airline providing direct connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Xi’an.

“As Malaysia-China’s economic cooperation is growing significantly and continues to strengthen with visa-free initiatives, we foresee this route will be popular for leisure and will also significantly enhance tourism and trade opportunities between both nations.

In celebration of this milestone, AAX will offer special promotional fares for travellers to explore the stunning city.

From April 15 to 21, guests can book flights from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an with all-in one-way fare starting from RM488, valid for immediate travel until Mar 31 next year.
