SERIAN: The Ampungan River Dock Festival (Pesta Pangkalan Kampung Ampungan) has successfully nurtured stronger bonds among the village’s youth and residents, particularly within the district.

The festival’s organising committee chairman Charles Ladong highlighted the vital role of collaboration between the youth and village residents in enhancing village development and fostering the youth’s interest in sports.

“The festival’s objective is to raise awareness among both villagers and visitors about the river’s significance as an essential local ecosystem,” he said.

He said this during his address at the opening ceremony yesterday (Sept 2).

The event was graced by the presence of Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin.

The festival spanned two days, commencing yesterday, and featured a diverse array of activities. These included stalls selling various goods, team-building games, karaoke sessions, and more.

Visitors were also offered the unique opportunity to explore the beauty of the Sadong River using boats, with designated dock locations such as Pasir, Pangkalan Sebangkui, Sibalik, and Sibungkung. These boat rides were provided at reasonable fees based on the chosen distance.
