Annual berambeh event draws over 6,000

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 6,000 participants thronged the 13th edition of the ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak’ 2022 programme on Saturday (Oct 15) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here.

The one-day event served as an avenue for Sarawakians from various backgrounds especially students studying in Peninsular Malaysia to gather and at the same have the opportunity to get insights on development carried out by the Sarawak government.

‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak’ is an annual programme organised by the Sarawak Volunteers Association (Sarawak Volunteers) with the full support of the Sarawak government.

Most of the Sarawak students from the public and private universities attending were first-timers to the event.

The event which commenced as early as 9am involved four components such as the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 Exhibition, Sarawak Dialogue, Town Hall Session, and a dinner to conclude the event.

Premier Datuk Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended the town hall session with students from all over Sarawak.

In addition, students also got the opportunity to meet and have a light session with state leaders, MPs and elected representatives.

Among the panelists during the dialogue were Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) Investment Promotion director Lester Matthew; Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Lukanisman Awang Sauni; Sarawak Business Federation and Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sarawak (ACCCIS) secretary-general Datuk Jonathan Chai; and Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SGDA) president and Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) senior vice president Gary Ningkan.

Head of State Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Abang Johari and other MPs including state leaders were among those present at the dinner.

Guests were also entertained by music performances by Sarawak’s international performer, At Adau.
