SIBU: The official opening of the new Pustaka Negeri Sarawak here by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Wednesday (Oct 21) marks another milestone towards making this riverine town a centre of learning in the state.

The new library, located at Jalan Tuanku Bujang, Sungai Merah here, opened for public use on Sept 15 this year. It is Pustaka Negeri Sarawak’s portal for the central region, covering Sibu, Mukah, Kapit and Sarikei.

Most locals interviewed gave the thumbs-up to the new library.

‘Thumbs-up to the new library. Although Sibu already has a library here, we still need more libraries for the benefit of the residents, especially students.

‘Pustaka Sibu also provides home delivery service for book. This is good because it can prevent the spread of Covid-19.’
